The KompleXXplorer captures the richness and complexity of the puppet, figure, and object theatre scene and its offerings. Where can figure theatre and its practitioners be found? What networks exist? How can I find collaborators for artistic projects and academic work?

Whether cultural professionals looking for cooperation opportunities, teachers seeking expertise, international audiences in search of an overview of festivals and venues for travel planning, or journalists, researchers, and cultural policymakers searching for data for structural analysis – the KompleXXplorer provides a valuable and clearly structured gateway to the world of puppet, figure, and object theatre in Germany.

The KompleXXplorer is a map shaped by the actors of the puppet, figure, and object theatre scene. Entries are approved by our team but are not checked for accuracy or up-to-dateness. Each user is responsible for the content of their own entry.

The KompleXXplorer is a subproject of the KompleXX Figurentheater alliance. Founded in early 2024, the alliance stands for national visibility, cultural-political recognition of the genre, and for broad networking within the scene. Several actions and model projects have been or are being implemented, all designed to benefit the entire field.

The national alliance work of KompleXX Figurentheater is funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media based on a resolution of the German Bundestag as part of the "Verbindungen fördern" program by the Bundesverband Freie Darstellende Künste e.V.
