The Figurentheater Osnabrück is supported by a registered society that aims to promote puppetry in the region around Osnabrück and to be a communication centre for puppetry. The aim was and is to manifest this form of theatre in Osnabrück.
For this purpose the association operates in a permanent venue. Mainly as a guest performance theatre: on the one hand for groups around Osnabrück, who produce independently and are allowed to bring these into the theatre's programme under special conditions. And on the other hand for nationwide groups, who are selected by the artistic management and have been conceptually integrated into the programme. In addition, the theatre also offers the opportunity to develop and produce plays locally in special cases through start-up funding, residencies and rehearsal opportunities.
The season runs from September to the end of June. The plays are aimed at different age groups. The youngest audience members should be at least 2 years old - there are no upper limits.
The theater is funded by the city of Osnabrück and the state of Lower Saxony by resolution of the Lower Saxony state parliament.
